Mary Husted was named the city's most
recent Employee of the Month at the Nov. 6 City Council meeting.
City Manager
Bill Moss presented Husted with a plaque during the meeting. Husted also
receives a free paid day off and a reserved parking space at City Hall
during the remainder of the month.
Husted, who has been with the city for the past eight years, currently
serves as an administrative assistant with the Marco Island Fire-Rescue
Department.
She was originally hired as the secretary for the city's Public Safety
Director and the Fire Chief, according to a prepared statement compiled by
Chief Mike Murphy and Moss.
"Mary is a positive, hard-working individual who is
willing to assist her fellow city employees and the citizens of Marco
Island wherever she may be needed," the statement read.
Husted does many administrative duties for both the Fire-Rescue Department
and the Police Department. She also is in charge of the city's cellular
phone needs, employee identification cards and assists with the CodeRED
emergency messaging system.
"Mary's dedication to the city has also been displayed by her
willingness to stay on our island during hurricanes and major incidents to
assist with staffing the emergency operations center as well as
coordinating resources during and after storms."
