Wellington subdivisions under boil-water notice

NEWS 12 and Palm Beach Post staff reports

Friday, August 25, 2006

Crews worked today on Forest Hill Boulevard to repair a water main break that caused a large sinkhole.

Crews said the sinkhole is about 10 feet by 20 feet. It's located on Forest Hill Boulevard just West of 441, across the street from the Mall at Wellington Green.

The sinkhole opened up after pipes split from the pressure from all the rain from the past few days.

The sinkhole created headaches for drivers, tying up traffic in the area this morning for several hours.

There are about 350 homes in the area and people who live nearby are under a 72-hour boil alert.

The two subdivisions affected are Polo Lakes and Wellington Edge.

All affected residents should have received a CodeRED phone call alerting them to the boil water notice, and there were signs posted at the entrances adjacent to Forest Hill Boulevard.

People outside the Wellington's Edge and Polo Lakes subdivisions are not affected.

A second CodeRED call will be made to affected residents and signs will be posted at the entrances advising when the boil water notice is lifted.

Residents who would like further information should contact Utilities Customer Service at 561-791-4010, visit the village Web site at www.ci.wellington.fl.us or view Channel 18, where boil-water notice information and a map showing the affected area can be viewed.
