Hurricane Wilma continues to threaten
Marco Island. Mandatory evacuation was effective at noon on Friday for
Marco Island and other coastal areas. Evacuation should be completed by 8
a.m. Sunday morning. A curfew will be in effect Sunday and Monday from 10
p.m. to 6 a.m.
Storm surge
models predict the water surrounding Marco Island may rise as high as 9 to
12 feet above tide, with wind speeds exceeding 100 mph. Marco Island
properties and residents will be in imminent danger if the hurricane's
predicted path and strength continue. Evacuation is the only reasonable
course of action.
